Alicia Majcher has spent her career making healthcare more connected, practical and people-centered. After completing her Master’s in Health Services Administration at the University of Michigan, she began with a fellowship at Trinity Health, where she gained early insight into the challenges of working within large health systems. She later joined Medical Advantage Group, where she helped launch Care Bridge, a care management program that reached nearly 100,000 patients through a Medicare demonstration project. This work deepened her interest in population health and building systems that support long-term care outcomes. At Huron Valley Physicians Association, she led quality operations and worked closely with providers to strengthen care delivery across practices. Now serving as Director of Care Management and Population Health at the University of Michigan Medical Center, Alicia continues to guide ambulatory care teams through value-based care programs and risk-based contracts, always focusing on what helps patients and teams thrive. Through this article, Majcher emphasizes the importance of building care systems that are both intuitive and deeply human, where patients feel seen, supported and understood. She believes meaningful change happens through small, thoughtful steps, supported by collaboration across teams and data-informed decisions. Designing Systems that Work for People Over the years, my vision for patient-centered care has become more grounded in simplicity and connection. Healthcare can feel overwhelming, especially in large systems, so I focus on making care more intuitive and responsive. I believe systems need to anticipate patient needs and activate the right support at the right time, without burdening patients to figure things out. At the same time, strong relationships matter. People want to feel seen and supported by those who care for them. At the University of Michigan Medical Center, we serve many complex, high-risk pa
Healthcare organizations know they need faster access to patient information, but few realize that nationwide medical-record retrieval can now be adopted as a practical service rather than a major interoperability project. Across hospitals, population health teams, and virtual care providers, patient information is spread across multiple systems. Consequently, clinicians are frequently forced to make clinical decisions without having a complete picture of a patient’s medical history. The data exists, but accessing it can be slow, costly, and unnecessarily complex. RosettaHealth was built to solve that problem. Founded by healthcare interoperability experts who helped shape some of the industry's earliest data exchange standards, the company brings decades of experience to healthcare information exchange. Its flagship solution, GetPatientRecords, enables healthcare organizations to retrieve patient records from healthcare facilities nationwide within minutes. Building on decades of interoperability expertise, the platform now provides access across CommonWell, Carequality, and TEFCA through a single solution. Organizations can access patient records from across the nation's leading interoperability networks without navigating multiple systems or the burden of additional interoperability infrastructure.
Health plans and specialty benefits administrators managing dental and vision benefits are under growing pressure to improve efficiency and responsiveness across claims management, provider coordination and member enrollment. But many still rely on disconnected systems that create inefficiencies across those functions and make it difficult to adapt quickly to changing market demands. For more than 30 years, SKYGEN has helped payers and specialty benefits administrators modernize and coordinate dental and vision benefits administration through SaaSbased technology built specifically for the industry. As a strategic advisor and technology partner, SKYGEN helps organizations navigate the operational complexity of an increasingly fragmented specialty benefits landscape through highly flexible technology that modernizes the administrative experience. Its platform supports and streamlines claims processing, provider management, enrollment, analytics and digital engagement, with configurable capabilities that support enterprise-scale coordination. “Organizations are increasingly recognizing the connection between oral health, vision health and overall wellness, making dental and vision benefits a more strategic part of the broader healthcare conversation. As those benefits continue to evolve, the need for connected, scalable administration becomes even more important,” says Steve Berryman, CEO. Growing emphasis on preventive care is also reshaping how organizations approach specialty benefits administration. As dental and vision benefits become more integral to longterm member engagement and preventive care initiatives, organizations are looking for more connected and efficient ways to administer those benefits. SKYGEN is at the forefront of those conversations, helping organizations modernize the infrastructure needed to support that evolution. Building Administrative Infrastructure for a Changing Market As dental and vision benefits become more strategically important across healthcare organizations, the operational demands associated with administering them continue to grow. Administrative requirements across specialty benefits can vary significantly across commercial, Medicaid and Medicare Advantage markets. Supporting those varying requirements, as well as optimizing the experience across all stakeholders, without increasing operational complexity, has become an important challenge that many health plans and specialty benefits administrators face.
The future of healthcare lies in systems that listen, connect and care. kbrax was created with the purpose of placing people at the center of healthcare and ensuring that compassion drives innovation. More than just a tech company, it is a mission-driven partner transforming how care is coordinated and delivered through innovative whole-person care solutions. At the heart of this effort is its flagship CompleteCarePlatform, an AI-powered system built to streamline processes while removing barriers that patients, health plans, Medicaid and Medicare programs, and managed care organizations face every day. The platform unites mental health, physical health and social determinants of health into a real-time, all-inclusive system, giving providers and patients a complete view of wellbeing. By identifying high-risk members before crises occur and reducing the administrative burden on overworked staff, it enables care that is timely and deeply personal. “Our mission stays true to uniting health in all its forms under one roof, with purpose, empathy and commitment,” says Koorosh Yasami, founder and CEO. Kbrax was born from the real-life struggles of people trying to get the care they needed, including Yasami’s loved ones. These experiences ignited a lifelong mission to transform healthcare. With more than 25 years of expertise in healthcare technology and prior success at HealthBI, Yasami now leads an effort to humanize rigid systems. Replacing fragmented systems with a user-friendly connected solution enables Kbrax clients to close care gaps faster, improve quality scores and deliver truly personalized care. This dedication has earned it recognition as a trusted partner in the healthcare industry, including designation as an Associate Affiliate Organization with America’s Health Insurance Plans and as a Preferred Vendor with the Association of Clinical Application Professionals. Unifying Teams, Systems and Data for Better Outcomes Kbrax understands a fundamental truth—health plans and care organizations are burdened by complexity. Inefficient workflows, regulatory pressure and manual processes continue to slow care delivery and exhaust teams. The siloed nature of mental, physical and social health compounds these issues. Patients with comorbid mental and physical conditions are far more likely to overutilize healthcare services. Mental illness is also closely tied to the onset and worsening of chronic conditions such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and asthma. Non-clinical social factors, such as housing instability, food insecurity, transportation barriers and unemployment, can significantly impact a person’s overall health and outcomes. Addressing these interconnected challenges is essential for achieving whole-person care. The CompleteCarePlatform is purpose-built to simplify whole-person care and streamline operations.
Virtual care that goes beyond technology empowers nurses, enhances patient safety, and improves care quality. Hospitals are struggling with chronic nurse shortages, high turnover rates, and razor-thin operating margins. These pressures demand solutions that deliver immediate ROI while improving care quality. Through a unified platform that combines virtual patient observation and virtual nursing in a single integrated system, Collette Health embeds clinical expertise directly into hospital workflows, ensuring smooth integration into daily practices and allowing nurses to deliver safer, higher-quality care. At Collette Health, everyone is driven by personal experiences and committed to enhancing care delivery. Their dedication is evident through hands-on involvement with hospital staff. Recognizing that education and change management are often the biggest barriers to virtual care success, the team provides comprehensive training, refines workflows, and ensures every virtual interaction boosts safety and care quality. “We are 100 percent a mission-driven organization. Everybody on our team is very passionate about what we’re doing,” says Holly Miller, CEO. For Miller, the commitment to improving care stems from deeply personal experiences. Caring for her veteran father and witnessing her mother’s lack of access to specialists shaped her approach to virtual nursing. It inspired her to empower nurses to practice at the top of their license, improve patient safety and deliver care wherever needed. Human-Centered AI and Technical Superiority Unlike vendors who lead with technology for technology’s sake, Collette Health’s AI serves a clear purpose: enhancing human capabilities rather than replacing them. The platform’s human-centered AI philosophy recognizes that the best outcomes happen when technology amplifies clinical expertise and strengthens patient-caregiver connections. This approach is evident in features like Follow Patient, which uses computer vision to automatically keep patients in view—eliminating the need for observers to manually adjust cameras so they can focus on patient interaction instead of equipment. Similarly, Acuity Scoring analyzes patient data to identify which patients require more attention, helping supervisors balance workloads so observers can concentrate on the patients who need them most. These AI capabilities don’t replace clinical judgment; they support it by handling the technical burden and enabling more meaningful human engagement. The technical architecture delivers measurable advantages beyond the AI itself. Collette Health’s virtual care ecosystem uses 20x less network bandwidth than competing solutions, enabling hospitals to deploy without expensive infrastructure upgrades—critical when operating on tight budgets. The cloud-based platform enhances security and patient privacy through local data processing while ensuring seamless integration with existing EHR systems and hospital workflows.
