WOODBRIDGE, NJ: iPatientCare, medical informatics firm, announces its enhanced feature for supporting 2015 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule that includes a CPT Code for Chronic Care Management.
CMS developed this specific CPT Code to respond to the needs of primary care physicians in managing patients with at least two chronic conditions. Typically, physicians and their staff spend significant quality time in coordinating care to such patients. The 2015 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule shall pay $42.60 for 20 minutes of staff time. The code can be billed once per patient per calendar month.
“These enhanced features to support 99490 CPT code is in line with national policy priorities of spending on treating patients with multiple chronic conditions,” says Udayan Mandavia, President/CEO, iPatientCare.
One of the difficult tasks faced by healthcare providers is to track the time spent by the staff and physicians who coordinate the care on the activities covered under the code.
Kedar Mehta, iPatientCare’s CTO and Chief Application Architect explains that to tackle this issue they have evolved numerous flow sheets for tracking chronic care based on guidelines provided by American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) since 2004. These enhanced flow sheets help in recording the time spent in providing coordination of care for managing chronic conditions. It offers necessary tools that help iPatientCare users to generate necessary documentation in support of CCM code.
