Healthcare Tech Outlook | Monday, September 14, 2020

San Jose, California - SAMI-Aid, a patient-focused telemedicine platform and healthcare concierge company, now offers at-home COVID-19 testing. SAMI-Aid will offer the COVID-19 saliva test, a more comfortable alternative to the nasal test. With this new offering, SAMI-Aid becomes one of the first telemedicine companies to have a dedicated COVID-19 testing feature.

“As a company that believes in democratizing access to healthcare, we wanted to provide a convenient option for COVID-19 testing for patients who would rather confirm their status from the safety of their own home,” said John Farhangui, SAMI-Aid Founder and CEO. “And patients can have confidence knowing they will be supported by expert medical professionals as needed via our telemedicine platform.”

SAMI-Aid’s COVID-19 testing program starts with an online assessment that will analyze a patient’s symptoms and health history to determine their risk and suggest next steps. If the patient displays a high likelihood of contracting COVID-19 or has other high risk factors, the patient can select to speak to a doctor immediately via SAMI-Aid’s telemedicine platform or they can opt to order a COVID-19 at-home saliva test. If the patient opts to order an at-home COVID-19 test, the patient will typically receive the test within 48 hours and can expect results of their test within 48 hours after returning the test sample.

“As we continue to navigate the coronavirus pandemic across the country, convenient and reliable testing options are becoming increasingly important to mitigate the spread of the virus,” added Farhangui. “We are proud to play a role in the overall solution to help people know their status and ultimately help our country recover from this pandemic.”

An at-home COVID-19 test from SAMI-Aid costs $115. Patients can start their free COVID-19 risk assessment at SAMI-Aid’s telemedicine platform offers on-demand access to medical professionals of a variety of specialties, including mental and behavioral health. SAMI-Aid’s mental health professionals are highly vetted, licensed, and certified in various areas of mental health expertise. More information is available at
