Prior to the pandemic, the home healthcare industry was reeling from difficulties in providing proper care to patients. They had to tackle the operational issues such as the high attrition of caregivers and their lower tenure while repeatedly facing low revenue margins. The pandemic added to the woes as there was an immediate shortfall in the number of medical practitioners and caregivers, owing to several factors like the massive change in safety protocols, inadequate personal protective equipment, overtime work, and burnout. As a result, home care agencies have been turning away most of their referrals due to the inefficiency in scheduling the shifts. This is where CareConnect brings a world of difference with its state-of-the-art workforce optimization platform helping home care agencies effectively manage their workforce and, in turn, take control of their bottom line.

“We are helping agencies to maximize their revenue through workforce optimization while they stay focused on delivering quality patient care,” says Michael Gelman, President and COO, CareConnect. The company’s platform specifically developed for home care agencies and their caregivers, helps the agencies optimize their workforce and successfully manage the workflow by scheduling the shifts productively.

Rather than just considering the caregivers as a revenue throttle, CareConnect functions with the idea that they are the most valuable asset for an agency. Whenever a patient approaches the agency, CareConnect’s proprietary platform utilizes the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning to match the patient with a caregiver according to the needs of the patient and the area of expertise and preferences of the caregiver.

The caregivers receive shift invitations through the CareConnect app, following which the caregiver can pick their preferable shift and get notified whenever the shift is assigned. The platform’s AI-powered algorithms enable caregivers to choose the shift timings of their choice in terms of location and mode of transport, thus reducing their overtime and travel costs. For small and mid-sized home care agencies, this ability to optimize their workflow through AI-assisted workforce management helps them drastically improve their bottom line to generate added revenue to the tune of half a million dollars annually in some cases.

Keeping aside revenue maximization, CareConnect ensures that both home care agencies and caregivers are able to adopt the platform without any hiccups. To that end, the company provides real-time support through multi-channel text, email, phone calls, and chat features within the app that enables home care agencies and caregivers to reach out to them for any assistance at any point of the day. Taking their services to a greater level, the firm cooperates with other players in the industry to help them meet the ever-changing complexities of patient demands in the home care sector. “We’re enabling our agency management system partners to provide more value to their customers by offering our services and integrating tightly with us,” says Gelman.

  • We focus on bringing tools into place that are going to help the agencies maximize the amount of revenue while staying focused on delivering quality patient care

The dynamics of the industry demands have been on a roller coaster for the past few months against the backdrop of the stringent safety protocols brought upon by COVID-19. CareConnect tackled the situation by developing a proof of vaccination tool that can be purchased as a stand-alone solution allowing the caregivers to upload the vaccination cards through the application itself to ensure they comply with all the necessary safety protocols. Finally, empowered by years of experience in the home care space, CareConnect is now accelerating toward the future, tackling one industry challenge at a time and supporting the home care agencies in ensuring continuous growth in revenue and improved patient outcomes at all times.
