ECAT: Healthcare Auditing Finally Made Simple

Francis Lyons, CEO, ECATFrancis Lyons, CEO, ECAT "We strive to keep it simple for the people who are using it every day of the week,” says Francis Lyons, CEO of ECAT, as he annotates on the current scenario of healthcare auditing software available in the market. The reason being most audit management software ride high on technicality and complexity and are not user-friendly. On an equal note, onboarding and familiarizing employees with the compliance rules and regulations at a mass scale becomes quite burdensome. But the Irish company ECAT is changing the entire discourse of the industry by disburdening hospitals and HCPs of clunky technologies and promoting faster, easier and smarter auditing with its intelligent enterprise software. With the amalgamation of the latest technologies, ECAT makes it extremely easy and simple to capture information and streamline self-auditing workflows while reducing manual errors and saving time and effort. And that precisely explains why ECAT’s high-grade audit management software is sought after by the industry giants like Penske, Sodexo, Tesco and many more.

However, it is not ECAT’s laudable reputation that its CEO is currently most excited about. “Standing at the juncture of our evolution, we are eagerly anticipating ECAT’s entire cultural shift—from being an electronic compliance audit tool to becoming an electronic compliance action tool,” extols Lyons, as ECAT is now reviewing all audit findings to propose an appropriate solution.

For instance, if a faulty machine is to be fixed, the compliance team receives a message from ECAT’s task management system for addressing the issue through the ECAT app or email, enabling healthcare managers to keep track of not only when the issue was discovered, but also gain access to the information regarding the date and time when it was resolved. “ECAT is not only capturing and analyzing all information but also ‘closing out the loop,’ by instantly suggesting corrective action and driving better results,” says Lyons.

The intelligent enterprise software also leverages NFC technology to prove how a task has been completed as per its specifications. To cite an example, when it comes to maintenance auditing, the staff in charge of cleaning the washroom can hold their phone over a sink and scan a tag for the sink to get flushed. If the sink is supposed to be flushed for three minutes as per specifications, then the system will only let that person move on after the stipulated time period.
Such a level of transparency ensures proof of presence and accountability.

However, what sets the company apart from its peers is ECAT’s consultative and engaging approach to client onboarding. The client onboarding process kick-starts with the hospital executives presenting the ECAT team with a rough sketch of the final solution, followed by extensive round-the-table discussions before ECAT goes ahead with introducing a test-version of the platform to the employees working on the floor. “Only after the employees try it out for a couple of weeks and give necessary feedback, do we begin to roll out the official version of the platform across the entire organization,” states Lyons.

Counting on its technological prowess and exceptional professional engagement coupled with dedicated technical support, ECAT now wants to add novel technological capabilities to their software. The company is gearing to adopt Flutter, a cross-platform UI toolkit developed by Google to build natively compiled applications on mobile, web, or desktop from a single codebase. Leveraging its rich set of animation libraries, the company hopes to build a better UI for its software to render a more immersive user experience. “Besides, we are constantly listening to our customers and incorporating their valuable feedback to continue offering our industry-leading software in a way that will help them to gain better insights into their processes, increase compliance and ultimately, improve their business,” concludes Lyons.
