IDS: Modernizing IT Infrastructure to Optimize Imaging Informatics

The synergy of IT and healthcare brought unique opportunities for CIOs and medical officers to distinguish the signal from noise surrounding the healthcare industry. However, the commotion created by traditional information systems in radiology—their inability to streamline the flow of patient information, interoperability, reports, and images— still enveloping various medical facilities, make them inefficient in their practices. “The time has come to leverage the true potential of cloud healthcare information technology (HCIT), and renounce the traditional methods in the healthcare vertical to deploy solutions,” says Yaniv Dagan, IDS Founder and CEO. Since its beginning in 2003, IDS has been striding forward with innovative technologies, offering Software and Platform as a Service through its cloud healthcare information management platform and modernizing IT to optimize imaging informatics. “Our solutions and applications capture almost all workflows of imaging informatics under one umbrella,” underlines Dagan. IDS is best known for its health information management platform AbbaDox, which provides a cluster of services through its modules—scheduling, imaging, document and documentation module, to name a few. “AbbaDox offers user-friendly, intuitive, time-tested services, which give the radiologist a holistic view of the patient’s health report,” says Dagan. AbbaDox is integrated with the capabilities to scale according to the size of organizations that are implementing it. Dagan calls AbbaDox a ‘main clinical data repository’, which aggregates entire information of a patient in one place for sharing and collaborating with referring physicians, patients and their family members.

IDS’s portfolio is shaped by innovative, service-oriented architecture using cloud technologies which have increased the value proposition of the company relative to its contemporaries.

“We have a radiology information system that is deployed through the cloud, which can support multiple processes irrespective of the organization’s size,” says Dagan. Likewise, IDS’s clinical data repository (CDR) allows imaging centers, radiologists and their referring physicians to share real-time and historical results as well as provide for collaboration tools to improve their communications. The company’s DICOM Image Viewer is an eminent part of its CDR that ties into the whole workflow of radiology. “The DICOM Image Viewer allows users to access and view results and the corresponding diagnostic images, and share them with specialists and primary care physicians. The latest version of this solution, HTML5, allows radiologists to share these images with physicians and patients across all desktops, tablets and mobile devices,” says Dagan.

The level of innovation Tesla is manifesting in the automotive industry, we are displaying the same with AbbaDox in the imaging informatics space

The next module in line is the Voice2Dox application that is a speech recognition platform for documenting radiology interpretation. Another branch of AbbaDox is a comprehensive document and forms management platform which automates the process of patient scheduling and registration. It keeps documents and related correspondence organized, traceable, and readily retrievable. “The level of innovation Tesla is manifesting in the automotive industry, we are displaying the same with AbbaDox in the imaging informatics space,” says Dagan.

The radiology industry had a much simpler framework a decade ago, due to the absence of disruptive trends and players to innovate. “Today, the market has also changed. The demands for better service level, needs, methodologies, have taken a drastic change in their trajectories,” highlights Dagan. IDS ensures that every iteration and enhancement of its platforms remain easy to adopt for clients across their infrastructure. In the coming months, organizations can expect to see IDS’s continuous evolution further ameliorating its portfolio, while enriching the patient’s experience.
