Taylor Healthcare's Mobile Signature Capture technology will be integrated into the VA's iMedConsent installations, allowing VA patients to sign surgical consent forms remotely using their mobile devices.
FREMONT, CA: "Adding our Mobile Signature Capture technology to the VA's iMedConsent solution enhances the VA's telehealth strategy," says Scott Fleischman, vice president of federal programs for Taylor Healthcare. "VA patients will soon be able to sign surgical consent documents from anywhere using their own mobile devices. Allowing patients to review and sign consent forms while away from the VA facility is a huge win from a patient experience standpoint."
Taylor Healthcare revealed its agreement with the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to integrate its Mobile Signature Capture into the VA's iMedConsent installations. More than 140 VA medical facilities in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines use Taylor Healthcare's proprietary iMedConsent software for surgical informed consent.

"The VA processes millions of confidential patient documents each year," notes Fleischman. "By providing consent forms and capturing signatures digitally, the VA is able to eliminate those paper documents and increase the efficiency of their new electronic health record."
iMedConsent optimizes obtaining patient consent before surgical procedures by providing a digital platform for informed consent documentation. Within iMedConsent's comprehensive digital library, standardized consent forms for over 4,000 treatments across 37 clinical specialties are maintained. This solution offers procedures and associated educational materials, anatomical images, and pre-and post-instructions and ensures standardization in the informed consent process.
Utilizing the integration with the VA's electronic health record (EHR), VA physicians can access the appropriate consent form in iMedConsent. The form can be customized for each patient, enabling physicians to describe the procedure and obtain the patient's consent. Electronic signatures automatically store the completed consent form within the VA's EHR, ensuring efficient and organized documentation.
Compliant with the VA's Section 508 requirements, the iMedConsent solution is widely adopted by VA facilities worldwide and numerous Defense Health Agency facilities and private hospital systems, reaffirming its effectiveness and broad applicability.
