Approximately 10 million people in the U.S. cycle through correctional institutions annually, with 90 percent of these incarcerations occurring in jails. Incarcerated persons tend to have high rates of medical and mental health problems due to violence and stress. During a client engagement, NaphCare's solutions helped a large county Health Care Agency (HCA), Correctional Health Services division (CHS) implement an EHR within five adult jails and juvenile detention facilities. The challenge was finding a system that accurately records care offered to patients and interfaces with multiple systems unique to corrections, providing patient demographics, diagnostic results, and medication administration records.
