CareRev's next evolution will equip healthcare professionals and providers with new technology solutions based on machine learning and data analytics.
FREMONT, CA: Brandon Atkinson has been chosen as CEO of CareRev, a technological platform for enhancing the workforce in the healthcare industry. After a lengthy career in senior operations roles in the healthcare and technology sectors, Atkinson joins CareRev. Will Patterson, the company's founder, will continue to serve as the CEO's top advisor and board member.
As part of the company's strategic growth plans, CareRev hired a number of executive leadership positions in the past eight months in addition to Atkinson. The chief people officer, Patty Bedard, came from Amazon, where she oversaw executive development. As head of product, Steve Thompson joined from Salesforce, Tableau, and Accolade. As vice president of strategy, Joe Anzalone arrived from Amazon Web Services. Ash Upreti, who formerly worked as legal counsel at Optimus Ride, Lyft, and Apple, joined CareRev as a chief legal officer. The expansion and bolstering of the executive leadership team will speed up CareRev's efforts to develop technology that supports the future healthcare workforce.

CareRev has assisted hospital systems around the nation in the past year in finding highly skilled local talent, reducing their dependency on pricey trip contracts. CareRev drove a 133 percent increase in the number of filled shifts by professionals using the CareRev platform between 2021 and 2022 and a 70 percent growth in the number of its partner hospitals. In addition to recently launching agreements with a number of new hospitals and health systems, CareRev has recently expanded into the states of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Hawaii, Kentucky, and Delaware.

With more than 20 years of experience, Atkinson has scaled multinational corporate technology enterprises. Atkinson held the position of a chief operating officer at two businesses before joining CareRev: Monetate, which Kibo Commerce, a Vista Equity Partners firm, and Cleerly, a digital health company acquired. Shortly after Roivant Sciences raised $1.1 billion in financing from Softbank to assist them in scaling their business, Atkinson joined the company. Atkinson worked in a range of leadership positions at AppNexus and Opsware, two companies that were both acquired for about $1.6 billion. Atkinson graduated with a bachelor's degree in history from Rutgers University and a master's degree in public affairs from the University of Texas at Austin's LBJ School of Public Affairs.
