FREMONT, CA: Consider all the manual, repetitive chores that nurses must undertake daily, such as scheduling medicine refills, taking vital signs, and completing wellness checks, among other jobs. The nursing profession has been under increasing pressure for years. It exploded due to the Covid-19 outbreak, leaving many nurses exhausted, burned out, and on their way out.
For instance, a recent survey of 2,500 nurses conducted by Incredible Health, a tech-enabled nurse hiring platform, revealed that 34 percent of nurses believe it's very likely that they will leave their roles by the end of 2022. Stress connected to the epidemic is not the only factor for many nurses to consider leaving the profession. Nearly two-thirds of nurses (65 percent) say they have been verbally or physically abused by a patient or family member during the past year, while 32 percent say they have faced discrimination or racism at work.
In the future years, demand for nurses is predicted to increase at the same time that nurses are leaving the profession. According to the American Nurses Association, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates 194,500 average annual openings for registered nurses between 2020 and 2030, with employment expected to increase by 9 percent.
