Concerns about personalized medicine
Using a tailored medical approach has many advantages, but it also has drawbacks. Genetic data from a large and diverse population must be gathered, participants’ anonymity and privacy must be maintained, and efficiency must be maximized. Information collection, storage, and sharing are all covered by privacy concerns.
Significant modifications to the healthcare system will likely be required to address the ethical challenges associated with using customized medicine, such as the availability of healthcare services, informed consent and knowledge gaps, privacy and confidentiality, and systemic changes in ethics. Benefits to society must be weighed against the advancement of knowledge and personal gain. Furthermore, medications created through genetic or molecular differences are likely expensive. Due to the volume of data, massive infrastructure modifications are also necessary and must be funded. These modifications include system adjustments for data collection, storage, and distribution.
