Delivering Active Life for People after Breast Reconstruction

Many women who undergo a mastectomy, either to treat breast cancer or reduce their risk for the disease, are eligible for reconstructive procedures that restore the shape of the lost breast. The most recent statistics show that 40 to 50 percent of mastectomy patients have some form of breast reconstruction.

However, breast reconstruction after mastectomy can sometime result in changes to the feel and shape of the reconstructed breast. With careful planning and attention to detail, it is possible to achieve a reconstructed breast that looks and feels natural.

Renato Science is driven by the mission to address the challenges associated with current breast reconstruction and breast augmentation surgery after mastectomy. The company has a strong commitment to regenerating people's health through the development and sale of tissue reconstruction materials. It is working hard to develop artificial fat that reduces the burden on the body due to surgery and provides patients with a high degree of cosmetic freedom.

Hasegawa started his career in medical information system construction at Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric. During that time, he conducted nuclear medicine research at the Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, and the Osaka University Clinical Medical Engineering Center.

At first, Renato Science’s artificial fat tissue is constructed with Poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA) mesh and collagen sponge. The implanted artificial fat tissue is eventually absorbed into the body providing the breast with a more natural look and feel. Secondly, collagen sponge is approved and widely used as Pernac G Plus in Japan; this makes patients and surgeons stress-free regarding safety.

Renato Science is currently discussing the clinical trial design to deliver its technologies to a broad patient population. The company is carefully taking care of the eligibility. It has just established the R&D phase and has not delivered the solutions yet to clients.

As per the next steps, Renato science is aiming to obtain regulatory approval in Japan and launch the product as a reimbursed treatment. It also plans to reach other countries based on dedicated sales routes.
